How to tune a soprano, concert or tenor ukulele
Soprano, concert and tenor ukuleles are tuned the same way. One quirk: the 4th string, closest to your face, is higher than the 3rd. This “re-entrant” tuning gives the ukulele its bright sound.
Nylon strings stretch a lot during their first days: retune often when your ukulele or its strings are new.
Low G and baritone ukulele
With low G, the 4th string is tuned an octave lower: a deeper, rounder sound, popular for fingerstyle. The larger baritone ukulele is tuned like the four highest strings of a guitar.
