How to practice with a metronome
Start a difficult passage at a slow tempo where you can play it cleanly, then speed up a few BPM at a time. Consistency matters more than speed.
Subdivisions (eighth notes, triplets, sixteenth notes) help you place fast notes. The first-beat accent helps you feel the bar.
What do BPM, adagio and allegro mean?
BPM stands for beats per minute. Italian tempo markings give a rough range: largo (slow, 40–60), adagio (66–76), andante (76–108), moderato (108–120), allegro (120–168), presto (168–200).
